This is a amazing lock set. Both knobs have paneled edges with hand etching on both face of knobs and on face of lock plate. There is an awesome detailed griffin that is very impressive, completely hand chased. It's like art work in itself. This is a complete lock set dating to 1870. This was removed from a wine seller by a lady in Brimfield Mass. who bought it at a estate sale in Conn.. This set could also be used on a cupboard. All parts are solid bronze. Operation: Both inside and out side knobs when turned throw a lock similar to a dead bolt. When closing the door you would also turn the knob to lock. The mechanism is primitive in design and works well. The condition of this set is perfect retaining the original finish/patina. The pictures don't show the intricate details. Won't be disappointed with this piece. Our history & craftsmanship at it's best.
Griffin side 4 -1/4" x almost 6"
Decorative plate side 2" x 6"
Knobs: 1 1/4" x 2 1/4"
Designed to be used on a narrow door aprox. 3/4" thick. Would look great on a primitive cupboard
